Why use a Moisturiser made with Natural Ingredients?

Plants and oils have been used for thousands of years for their medicinal, perfume and therapeutic properties. They are full of ingredients which are beneficial to the skin these include vitamins, antioxidants, sterols and GLAs.

Commercially produced products tend to use chemicals and synthetic ingredients in their products making them more cost effective and easier to mass produce.

Some of the ingredients created for the cosmetic industry which are used in commercially produced products have been reported as having side effects, leading to hormone imbalances, cancers etc.

Why use synthetics when your skin can gain so much more from using natural ingredients, when you read about synthetic ingredients used in cosmetics. Some are allowed in small quantities due to their hazardous properties, so what is the difference between using something in small quantities over a long period of time, and having a large dose of the ingredient. Some of these synthetic ingredients are toxic, and are used for quick fixes but actually damage the skin when used over a period of time. The answer of course is cost, synthetic ingredients are easier to use in an industrial process.

Using natural ingredients has a more positive effect on the skin, for example beeswax which is beneficial by providing natural protection for the skin. Synthetic beeswax is a manufactured wax made of various waxes including petroleum which is a by product of the oil industry and can block the pores.

Pure essential oils are a concentrated liquid extracted from the plant by either distillation or pressure. When used in natural products they have many benefits and can be used to help heal, calm, rejuvenate and add a lovely aroma to a product.

Many manufactured products use artificial perfumes which are of no benefit to the body, and can cause allergic reactions, such as skin rashes, asthma and migraines.

By making natural home made products, your skin can benefit from all the nourishment, vitamins and antioxidants that these ingredients naturally provide.

In today’s world we are bombarded with choices of how to buy things and what we should buy. Also did you realise that Organic when used in cosmetic products doesn’t always mean Organic as in ‘Chemical Free’, it often means of Organic origin.

Be careful when a web site makes wonderful claims, I found a website full of pictures and literature saying what wonderful things it can do for your skin. When I checked the small print at the bottom of the page, it stated the product hadn’t been approved by the FDA, the writing was fictitious and the pictures were not a true representation of their product. Apparently the product is made outside of Europe, we buy it from a non-European website, then dispatched from outside Europe thereby bypassing all the regulations governing cosmetic products made in the EU.

Your skin absorbs products you use, as someone said “If you wouldn’t eat why would you put it on your skin”. Mind you I don’t recommend anyone eating our products although all the ingredients are natural I don’t think they will taste very nice.

Apart from anything else I like a cream which is easily absorbed, non greasy and as natural as possible, which is why the Essential Creams range has been created.
